Nothing compares . . .

Just a few days back I found lots of budday cards and stuff my dad gifted me when I was little which I had somehow forgotten.

This one's for my father :D actually, for all the fathers out there who adore their daughters to an extent which makes the daughter say -- Oh God!

and also for all the daughters who feel maybe he's being too overprotective.

So well, here it goes :

Nothing compares to the comfort of walking sleepy-eyed into the living room every morning and seeing him reading the newspaper . . .

Nothing compares to the sense of security that you feel when despite your loud protests, he insists on dropping you somewhere just so he is assured that you have reached safely . . .

Nothing compares to the feeling of individuality that only he could give by asking for your opinion on significant family decisions, even when you were just 12 . . .

Nothing compares to the delight you feel when he expresses amazement that your budday is not important enough to be a national holiday . . .

Nothing compares to the sense of camaraderie you feel when it's you and your father versus mom and your brother . . .

Nothing compares to the spark in your mother's eyes when she gets a pair of earrings from him on their anniversary . . .

Nothing compares to the feeling of exceptionality he insists in you when he genuinely thinks that any guy isn't good enough for someone as unique as you . . .

Nothing compares with the knowledge that no matter what life throws at you, dad will always help you fix it . . .

And finally, absolutely nothing compares to the taken-for-granted feeling that no matter where you are, he is just a phone call away . . .

Thank you for being there always :)

Toothpaste!

There aren't many fans of pepsodent because of it's excessive calcium taste (including me) but then my mom is a pepsodent fan so we get pepsodent and close up.

The other day I was watching this bones cd and it suddenly stopped waaarking! I tried doing different things and then saw the too many scratches it had. . . bored to death, I decided to try the toothpaste trick.

Took out pepsodent germi-check and applied it all over the cd and then wiped it off :P
With great anticipation I put the cd innnn and it worked :P

Yeah, it worked properly :P

Next time you have cd scratch problems then try pepsodent! It sure will help there (though I doubt it shows similar results on teeth)

College memories - part 2

I miss going to fests conducted by every damn college in the city.
I cherish the memory of winning the tabloid making competition at Arthashastra with Sana! :D
The spice of life :))
1000rs each and a treat of gulab jamuns and jalebis for the entire class.

I miss CHEERS and I miss the way we struggled with Jamboree and I'm glad it was a success in our final year.
The CHEERS elections were superb! :P
I miss our juniors too!
I miss the four or five NSS meetings we went to.
I miss the hygiene camp in the slum a few kms away from our college.

I miss waiting near the gate for the guard to open it as soon as the clock struck 2.

I miss our handball matches!

I miss the hue and cry for getting the no-dues signed by every lecturer and even the librarian. The long queue at the library counter and the way one or two of us went and did the work for all of us.

I miss the way we collected money for budday gifts and so much thinking we did as to what to gift!

I miss the CCA classes in first year only. The special students that we were, we didn't get to attend them in the 2nd year.
I miss the way I sat in different CCA classes every week. . . handicrafts, mass communication, calligraphy, cooking, baking, personality development and what not?!
I ended up getting the certificate of calligraphy! :D

I miss the Taj Mahal Campaign and how we won it :D
I miss our dance practices and our "radio ann's" - - bbbbboltey jaao, bbbbbbakktey jaao!

I cherish the moment when I was dancing on stage and Azra was standing down there in the crowd and showing me the steps :P

I miss the 2 day friendship day party we had and Anu ma'ams sarcastic comments.

I miss the mass bunk plans, the movie plans, the picnics, the icfai tech debacle :P

I miss going late to college everyday and disturbing nothing but the HRM class by dragging my chair to sit and nothing but disturbing Greeeshma ma'am :D

I miss Sadia ma'am who was sweet enough to remember us all and bring key-chains of our first alphabet for the 20 of us :)

I miss the times when we helped each other in our 100 mks project and how were trying to calm down ourselves at the time of the viva.
And how can we forget the disastrous results which were published by the university! We all "failed" in the viva and project! :)) And the bouts of tension which followed until we got our memos and read the word "pass" inscribed on the memos!

I miss you friends and I miss sitting with you all, oblivious to the rest of the world.

I just miss being an Hons student :D

I didn't know I could write so much and yet feel I'm missing something in here.
What is it that I've left out?!

College memories - part 1

College got over almost a year back and I'm still haunted by memories when I just sit down to ponder over things.
Three years of being and Annite are behind me now. Sometimes when I think back to those chilled out and carefree days, I miss college madly.
Those long sabbaticals all over the campus and waiting for the college to get over. The 45 -50 minute lectures and the trying to keep ourselves awake during them!
The way we simply sat in class and talked about everything, something and sometimes nothing at all!
I miss every single thing about college!
We started out by being I Hons who didn't have a classroom in the eerily big college. . . All the three years we ended up gracing room numbers 102, 202, 107, 303, 301 and not to forget the audi landing, with our presence. :D But 301 was the place where we had the most unforgettable moments!
I miss those quadrangle assemblies.
I miss the way we whispered during the assembly and the way we very rarely sang the college song at the top of our voices.
I miss the way we went late to our language classes in 1st year on the pretext of being stashed up in 301, the corner most room in the college.
I remember our 2nd year FIT prac and viva and I miss the way we helped each other during the viva.
I miss the times when we first graced the UG library with our presence.
I miss the way we (sumi, nida, ramaa and me) searched for novels in the fiction section of the library. We could be found there if at all we were in the library!
I so miss the times when we graced the PG library with out presence and of course, the paper snatching/reading and the non-stop chatter.
I'm sure the pg librarian misses us too!
I miss Rasool Sir who lent us books from the PG library by looking at our pleading eyes which always said -- oh please! I so want to read this book and it's not available in the UG library sirrrr! :D
I miss making ppt presentations and giving them in the AV room.
I miss how we tried to miss those monday or tuesday seminars and if we attended, our attempt to grab the last row seats and get engrossed in novels all through the "important" seminars.
I miss sitting in our canteen and grumbling about the lack of good food.
I miss going to the intermediate block canteen to eat samosas and ice pepsi
I miss the way we collected notes from n number of books and the way we cursed our course syllabus designers for not having prescribed just one standard book for each subject.
I miss the way we exchanged our notes with each other after we toiled hard to search them.
I miss Jojo's lectures and I miss Anu ma'ams tax and fm classes.
I miss the way Vat was disowned from 3 hons :D
I miss the discussions on Benazir Bhutto and more often than not, of her son and Sumi's crush on him :P
I miss the way we listened to songs in the class!
I miss the TV discussions and the Bollywood news Nazneen the reporter had for us! :D
I miss those Ramadan recipe discussions and the elaborate recipes which Nida tried to explain :P
I miss going to judo practice after college and most of the time missing it and just going back home for a peaceful afternoon nap.
I miss taking part in the in-house sports meets and the rush to have our names enrolled first!
I miss the way people looked at us when we told we're hons students. We enjoyed a special status in college! :D
I miss the ragging scenes. How we were ragged and how we in-turn ragged and how a certain set of people ended up ragging just the wrong person and the cat fight which followed :P
I miss the way we ate during Smita ma'ams accounts classes and how we figured out the problems on our own while she would be still guessing the problem with the problem!
I miss the khank-khannnn of bangles during corporate classes.
I miss aimlessly roaming around in the campus . . . . .

Khalil Jibran

I love this quote!

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Her first day!

:D a very bizarre bizarre sort of story :P

She was feeling a little weird. She checked herself thrice in the full length mirror in the hallway on the first floor. Her mom hollered for her from the kitchen to not leave home without breakfast. She ran downstairs and gobbled up the scrambled eggs and bread. As she started to leave for college, she realized her bag was upstairs and sprinted up for it hoping she won't be late for the first day of college.

As she entered the college with others, she noticed he numerous alien faces on the campus. Someone called out loudly, " Nitya " and she tilted her head to get a better view. Nitya sighed with relief. Most of her friends were waiting near the basketball court for her. They were discussing whom to rag first today and which class to raid and get their canteen bill for the day paid! It was their second year in college and yet another journey had begun for them all.

They were anxious to experience another year of ever increasing freedom, looked forward to gaining foothold in what they excelled and looked forward to the more fun and frolic which was in store for them.
